balance and stability while standing, walking, or turning. In
addition, Seniors will be shown exercises that are designed to
improve the health and flexibility of nine joints. And finally,
Seniors will be shown deep breathing exercises to help relax the body
and relieve stress and tension. As an added bonus, periodically
throughout the program, individual exercises will be introduced to
strengthen specific areas such as the hips, thighs, shoulders, etc.
Each

exercises for targeted areas. Basically, each session will begin
with warm up exercises designed to stretch the body, then balance and
stability exercises while moving, then joint stretching and
strengthening exercises, and finally breathing exercises to relax and
calm the body.

The overall purpose of this class is to introduce a basic exercise class similar to Tai Chi and Qigong movements. These movements can also be known as “moving relaxation.” The overall goal of this class is to help people improve: overall body balance, body flexibility, body strength, and body stress relief. This program is designed to introduce people to a short basic exercise form that can be later expanded into a longer form. These exercises are designed to improve balance and stability while moving. In addition, muscle flexibility and strength will be targeted. Also, deep breathing exercises while moving will help bring oxygen into the body and help cleanse the body of toxins, such as carbon dioxide (CO2). And finally, special relaxation music
will be played throughout the session to calm and relax the body and mind.
Each session will be the same, with warm up exercises to strengthen and stretch the body. Then deep breathing movements will continue to help stretch the muscles and bring fresh oxygen into the body. A simple exercise to help aline the spine will be introduce before the actual exercises begin. The Short exercise program will then be introduced and students will learn 6 basic movements. The design of this program will be to help students learn how to “flow” from one movement to the next. Deep breathing will then be presented and students will learn how to coordinate their breathing with the movements. These stretching exercises will be repeated several times to lengthen and enhance the whole experience.
