I’ll
Never Forget That Look
It was dark and it was stormy, but she was not afraid . . .
She had come this way many times and knew how the road curved
near the edge.
If people were following her, they did so at great risk to
themselves. Not only from the wet road
and stormy conditions, but also from the fact that she was a trained martial
arts expert.
Having lived in Japan for two years, and being trained by some
of the best martial arts instructors, gave Jenny the self-confidence she needed
to finish this project.
As she approached the curve, it was apparent that the stormy
conditions had made the road surface very slippery. Carefully she edged herself around the
curve. This was not the time to be
moving quickly. Knowing when to move
fast was good, but moving fast at the right time was more important.
Past the curve, she moved silently to the left, and quickly off
the road. She took to the higher ground
because the trees offered the best cover.
Soon she heard their voices coming down the trail. At least two people, maybe three. The sound of the storm muffled their voices
and made it hard to distinguish how many people were following her. Then it happened.
