HAIKU
One Mind / One Universe
By Raymond Sol
Another demonstration of the "intellectual skills or soft skills" common with elite warriors throughout the world, is the creation of poetry.  As with all training in the martial arts skills, warriors also need to develop their intellectual skills.  Working to develop verbal and written skills, should be part of every warrior's training.  Better to negotiate through a conflict, using superior intelligence, then fight.  However, if you need to fight, then fight to win.

Creating Haiku verses provides an excellent opportunity to practice and demonstrate these "soft intellectual skills."  Many of these verses have been submitted to many Haiku contests.

I encourage everyone to try creating Haiku poetry.  It can be fun and intelligently stimulating.  All poems have 17 syllables; five syllables in the first line, then seven syllables in the second line, and the last five syllables in the third line.

I hope you enjoy my Haiku.

Cold air and dark skies are here
        Stay inside and warm.

Winter’s ice cold air
    Freshens the body and mind
        Energize your self.

Cold, cold is winter
    Snow falling blankets the earth
        Whitening the ground.

    Cold winter snows are gong
        Plants and trees awake.

        And make you happy.

With small white flowers in bloom
        You welcome new life.

SUMMER

Now comes the summer
Hot air to bake the earth dry
        Take shade to stay cool.

The summer solstice
    In June, July, and August,
        Now brings warmer days.
